Join us to make a difference!
2012 lives on ... through Chesil Sailability Volunteers! Join us in making a difference Would you like to be part of the Paralympic Sailing Legacy....on or off the water? Chesil Sailability was set up by a small group of local volunteers, to give people with disabilities of any age or ability, the opportunity to go sailing, whether they are existing sailors or new to the sport. In the summer sailing season, we have 3 main volunteer groups, the Welcome Team which is land based, The Shore Team which helps on the pontoons, the On the Water Team, involving Skippers that go out with our sailors and safety cover on RIBs. Then during the winter months we are busy fundraising, training and planning for next year! No previous experience is needed in any areas as training is provided. You don’t have to get your feet wet, or know one end of a boat from the other. As a team, we love to share skills, learn together, and arrange training for those that want to acquire new skills. We are based at Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy and are so lucky to use the Paralympic facilities…and then sail on the Olympic and Paralympic waters. The main benefits of volunteering for Chesil Sailability are to interact with lots of other passionate people and see the smiling faces of our disabled sailors. We cannot do any of this without you….
