Baton Relay: Stage 5

The 2012 GamesMakers baton that Sandra West kindly donated to Chesil Sailability has its fifth hand over last night. Katie Langrishe was awarded the baton at our annual prize giving evening for being the smiliest sailor! She passed the baton on to Victoia Walller, who has been a peer mentor with our This Floats My Boat project. She has given talks to Weymouth College, Westfields College, Kingston Maurward College, The Friendship Club and Cowden Care Farm. As part of these talks to groups of people with learning disabilities, she created the Sailing Dance! As a member of the Friendship Club, and on the Steering Group of the Friendship Club, Victoria knew how much the members liked dancing! At the sailing/pirate-themed disco evening, with the boat in the pub, Victoria led the sailing dance and encouraged most of the 70 or so people there to join in! It proved a very successful way of getting the message across about what its like to come sailing with Chesil Sailability!

Thank you Victoria for all your work and enthusiasm as a Peer Mentor with the This Floats My Boat project!
