New Forest TT
On Saturday, Team Chesil went to Spinnaker Sailing Club for the next event in the Hansa TT circuit. Being only 45 mins away, it was lovely to only have a short drive in the morning to get there! Spinnaker is a small lake with shifty and gusty winds, so it was a challenge for our sea-sailors! The 13 Hansa 303's also made for some challenging and close racing, which was exactly what the team wanted in the run up to the big events of the year, the Eurpeans and the Nationals.
The first two races saw the breeze completely die, then come in from a totally different direction - light and flukey! But that meant that everything was still to play for - Philip and Dick overtook two boats on the last leg after two laps! After coming in for lunch, the breeze had picked up and the afternoon got even more exciting, with lots of close calls! Philip and Dick finished 2nd in the first race of the afternoon, and it was almost a photo finish between the two Chesil boats and two or three other Hansa 303's for the final race of the day! Tim and Anya finished first overall (by one point on countback!), and Philip and Dick finished 6th.
Thank you to all the volunteers at Spinnaker who looked after us so well, and ran a great event!
